MISSION
Who we are
RMRD SA is an umbrella organisation with a mandate for research and development in the red meat sector, working under the Red Meat Industry Forum (RMIF).
To ensure that South Africa’s pork and large and small stock industries have the technology and knowledge to deliver products, in a profitable and sustainable manner, using current scientific advances to maintain their global competitiveness.

RMRD SA finances projects run by recognised research institutions working in agricultural research. These include:

How research is funded
The red meat levy
Collected under legislation on every carcass sold. The levy makes up the larger share of available research funds.
The RMRD Trust
The Red Meat Research and Development Trust is the second source of funding for research in the sector.
